At the archaeological site of Ancient Messina many events such as, theatrical performances and concerts take place every year.  The International Youth Festival of Ancient Drama has been an institution for the region the last few years. The festival focuses on the presentation of ancient Greek or Latin pieces of drama (tragedy or comedy), has not a competitive character and its purpose is young people experience and experiment with the ancient drama and cultural heritage. Ancient Messina is converted into an intellectual centre that brings together pioneering and entrepreneurship from around the world, with the first TEDx in the world that takes place in ancient theatre! The TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design) is a non-profit organization dedicated to "Ideas worth spreading", launched in the US in 1984, as a conference which aimed to bring together three worlds: Technology, Entertainment and Design.
